A horizontal screen indicates an older model Baby Lock or Brother multi-needle machine.
It can be confusing when looking to purchase a used Baby Lock or Brother multi-needle embroidery machine. This handy list can help cut through the confusion. It includes all free arm embroidery machines that date from the year 2000 to the year 2022. Also included are the two single needle free-arm machines. (Free-arm machines are upright and can use cap drivers.) The information on this website has been verified to the best of our ability by backtracking machine release dates through at least two resources.
Flatbed single needle machines are not included in this list, as they have too many models with overlapping features and dates.
About Brother and Baby Lock Embroidery Machines:
Baby Lock and Brother machines have very similar features, but they come with different pre-programmed designs. The accessories can fit both machines. To find the matching Brother or Baby Lock model, simply match the number of needles and the year in the other brand. Thus, the `10 needle Baby Lock Array (2021) is equivalent to the 10 needle Brother Entrepreneur W PR680W (2021).
If the Brother embroidery machine model ends with a C, then the machine comes with a cap driver. (Example: The Brother PR600C is the same machine as the Brother PR600, except it comes with the cap driver package.)
One of the fastest way to determine the decade that the embroidery machine was manufactured is to check if the screen is horizontal or vertical. Horizontal screen machines were manufactured prior to 2010. Vertical screen machines were manufactured in the year 2010 or later.
How to use this list:
The first manufacture date is in parentheses. (Example: The Baby Lock Alliance was first released in 2015). The list is grouped by brand and then chronologically. The last machine in the list for each brand is the current model being sold. Thus, the Baby Lock Alliance (a 1 needle machine) is still in use, as the last year listed is 2015 and another Baby Lock model is not listed after the Baby Lock Alliance in that category.
Manufacturers like to keep prices secret. The prices listed here, when available, were sent in by individual embroidery machine purchasers and may not be actual MSRP. Prices shown here should only be used as guides, as prices will vary from dealer to dealer. If a range is shown, then it reflects the actual purchase price (not including sales tax) as reported by individuals.
The model number/name is also listed for each brand. In some cases, the model number changed while the name remained the same. There are several Brother Entrepreneur models as well as several Baby Lock Embroidery Professional models. These models are distinguished by different model numbers. The Baby Lock Embroidery Professional EMP6 is a different model (and year) then the Baby Lock Embroidery Professional BMP6, which was released three years later.
