Single needle embroidery machines often have an automatic threading feature that quits working. The threading hook can easily get out of alignment, missing the needle hole.
The first step is to insert a new embroidery needle. The needle may have slipped down a tiny bit, making the threading hook miss the needle hole. When inserting the new embroidery needle, push the needle all the way up into the hole with the flat side of the needle shaft facing toward the back.
Check to make sure that the needle is an actual embroidery needle that is a size 75/11 or larger. The automatic threading mechanism is not made to thread all needle types and needle sizes. The threading hook won’t fit inside a very small needle hole, such as found in smaller size needles or in non-embroidery machine needles. Embroidery machine needles have larger holes than regular sewing machine needles. The larger hole is to accommodate the embroidery machine’s rapid stitching speed.
If a new needle doesn’t fix the problem, then it is time to check to see if the threading hook is bent. The video below show how to fix a bent threading hook on a Brother embroidery machine’s threading mechanism.

If the needle threader mechanism needs replacing as it won’t align or the hook is broken, then you can replace it yourself. It is a simple repair that can save an expensive service repair fee. Check out these tutorials on How To Replace The Threading Mechanism.
