Learn how to adjust a multi-needle embroidery machine’s thread picker.
Anytime the thread tails are too short, resulting in the thread pulling out of the needle when the machine starts, it is usually caused by a thread picker problem.
The thread picker is a two pronged fork that is located in front of the bobbin case on a multi-needle free-arm machine. The thread picker helps connect the top and bottom threads when stitching. It also controls the trim of the thread tail. If the thread picker is bent or stuck inward, then it creates a birds nest of thread.
The picker adjustment also has the ability to change the thread tail length (short, medium, or long) in the machine’s control panel. If the machine’s settings are correct, then the next step is to check out the condition of the thread picker by looking in the bobbin area.
